This is a very rustic product and can look as if it has been in place for hundreds of years. Traditionally Terracotta is the ideal flooring for a kitchen, utility room, boot room, hallway or porch.

Terracotta is a hand-made or machine finished natural clay product. Terracotta (ITALIAN “Baked Earth”, from the Latin Terra cocta) which is  a clay based unglazed ceramic. The clay is placed in a wooden mould or a cutter is used which is what gives the unique edging to these tiles. The tiles are then dried outside in the sun before being stacked in the kiln in order to bake the clay. It has been known for a chicken claw print or cat paw print  to be found imprinted on the tile where it has been left outside during the drying process, this is regarded as a good luck product for the home, making a special feature for your home.

The Ancient Greeks and Romans widely used Terracotta Flooring due to its durability and warmth.  The Romans were the first to utilize under floor heating and due to the Terracotta’s heat retaining ability this was a perfect choice.
